Cook the Berries Add strawberries and sugar to a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until berries release juices and soften, about 5-8 minutes.
Mash & Simmer Use a fork or masher to break up the strawberries slightly. Stir in lemon juice and any optional vanilla or cinnamon.
Reduce Simmer another 2-3 minutes until thickened to your desired consistency.
Serve Spoon generously over French toast, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, or ice cream.
