A layered trifle-style dessert with devil's food cake, chocolate pudding, Cool Whip, and crushed Heath bars. Absolute decadence.
- Make the Cake
Make the devil's food cake as directed on the package. Let cool completely.
- Make the Pudding
Prepare the chocolate pudding with 3 cups milk according to package directions. Refrigerate until set.
- First Layer
Break half the cake into smaller pieces and place in the bottom of a large trifle bowl or deep dish.
- Kahlua Drizzle
Sprinkle half of the Kahlua over the cake pieces.
- Pudding Layer
Spread half of the pudding over the cake pieces.
- Cool Whip Layer
Spread half of the Cool Whip over the pudding.
- Heath Bar Layer
Crush the frozen Heath bars into crumbs and spread half over the Cool Whip.
- Repeat
Repeat all layers with remaining ingredients.
- Chill & Serve
Keep refrigerated or frozen until ready to serve.
- Freeze the Heath bars first - they crush much easier when frozen.
- Use a food processor or put them in a bag and whack them with a rolling pin.
- Can be made a day ahead - flavors meld together beautifully.
